Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

As part of her 16th birthday celebration (which also included a bowling party!) Kelsey wanted to go to Myrtle Beach with a few of her friends. So David and I took Kelsey, Paula, Melissa and Richard to Myrtle Beach on April 22. It was off season so we were able to get a hotel right on the beach for cheap! (We actually got two rooms...one for the boys and one for the girls). Unfortunately it rained most of the day on Saturday but the kids still managed to get some swimming in. They also went to the Pavilion Amusement Park while David and I went to see The Kingston Trio. On Sunday we all played Minature Golf at Atlanticus (I lost). Mainly the kids just wanted to swim and shop at all those beach stores like "Wings" and "Eagles". I was fine with that!

Prom Night in Apex...April 8, 2006. Cam looks like something out of "Pulp Fiction"...it's hard being humble when you are so cool! Duncan hadn't picked up his date yet and Kelsey was actually Cam's date. Kelsey's dress cost $19 and she loved it!

Kelsey's del Sol

Well, Kelsey just turned 16 years old and had been talking about how she was getting a car for her 16th birthday. We kept telling her that we weren't buying her a car for her birthday but it turns out that it almost worked out that way. Frank and I had offered money to the kids for a car and she decided to get hers now (Duncan got his at 17 and Cam still hasn't bought his...he uses my old Suzuki right now). She wanted a Honda del Sol but they were more money than was in her budget. So, Mom (me) got on eBay and started hunting down a cheap del Sol. I lost the high bid on this one twice...but got it in a Second Chance offer. It had damage in the rear (someone had obviously backed into something) and a lot of miles...but we got it! David and I helped straighten up the back a lot and she is happy as a clam with it.
